You get paid for joining up (sometimes), for reading E-mails
(always) and for E-mails read by anyone you refer (usually). You
get a small amount for each mail you read, and don't normally
have to build up too large a balance to get paid, but the money
really only comes if you get people to sign up under you. Payouts
are normally made in dollars, but you have to watch these schemes,
because they either fold up like TheMail did a while back, or
don't send you enough E-mails to make things worthwhile.
The great advantage, of course, is that most people need a
decent E-mail provider and not only are these programmes free,
but you can get money from them as well. You're almost certainly
not going to make a fortune, but every little helps.

- Another decent Paid E-mail program which pays $0.05 for every
mail you read and $0.02 for every mail a referral reads. Payment is made either
by cheque or by PayPal when your balance reaches either $30.00 for cheque payments,
or £10 for PayPal payments. You are expected to request payment yourself once
your balance has reached the relevant minimum. Click

a few lines now about a program which wasn't quite as good - I joined TheMail
towards the end of 2000 and it offered an excellent program and payment rates
- it was actually a decent e-mail program in its own rights, but you got paid
for every e-mail read by a referral, through 16 levels. There was a good system
going to generate referrals and I had upwards of 300 referrals under me at one
stage and was making a small fortune. Unfortunately TheMail finally realised that
they couldn't sustain anywhere near the levels of earnings being generated and
reduced the payout level to 1% of its previous level, which killed the program
stone dead. They then went on to try and charge you $19.95 a month for the privilege
of using their program. Well, you can see what that would do. However, TheMail
has now stopped charging and even though it doesn't earn you any money, is an
excellent free E-mail provider, offering things like autoresponders and good online
facilities. It may be worth checking out if you fancy a decent E-mail account.
